Register Alarms or Risk Fines

Registration for monitored alarms began May 15 Lilburn city residents.

Lilburn city residents have until June 15 to register their security alarms or risk fines up to $500.

The Lilburn Police Department reminded citizens in a press release last week to be that was passed last year.

The ordinance was enacted to address the increasing demand of city resources due to false alarms. Police records show that between 2009 and 2011 there were more than 5,000 false alarms within the city limits, costing the city more than $116,000.

After June 15, registered alarms holders will be allowed one false alarm call at no charge during a 365-day period. A second call and those not registered are subject to a summons and a possible fine of up to $500.

Registration began on May 15, and can be completed online. You may also use that link to pay false alarm fees, manage your account, and to learn more about the City of Lilburn Ordinance number 423-11. Permits cost $15.
