Parkview Grad Recognized by National Soccer Coaches Association

Goalkeeper Ashley Baker, a junior at UGA, started all 22 games on the university's soccer team last year, a report said, and now she has a shot at playing on the 2012 Great Britain Olympic soccer team.

Ashley Baker, a graduate and now a junior at University of Georgia in Athens, was named to the 2011 National Soccer Coaches Association of America Women’s Scholar second team for the All-South Region, the university's student newspaper reported.

Last month, Baker, who was born in England, found out that she is on the British Olympic Association's "long list," which means she has a chance to be on the 2012 Great Britain Olympic soccer team in this year's games in London, redandblack.com reported.
