Parkview upsets Hebron to lift trophy.

Parkview’s volleyball team defeated Hebron 28-26, 25-21 to claim the Gwinnett County Championship this past Saturday.

Bump, set, spike. In a warm-up to the region tournament next Thursday, the Parkview volleyball team participated in the Gwinnett County Championship.

Although the tournament has no bearing on rankings, it serves as a way to test your team’s grit in a tournament atmosphere.

Because of their disappointing showing on Thursday, Parkview was placed in the silver bracket on Saturday.

The Panthers used defeat as a path to triumph as the girls shook off their poor performance and rallied three wins in a row on Saturday. Parkview clinched a spot in the finals by beating Duluth 25-13, 16-25, 15-8 and Grayson 25-19, 25-22.

Parkview went into the finals against Hebron. They won both sets 28-26, 25-21 to lift the trophy.

“It was inspiring to see the girls unite and persevere through injuries and conflict for the biggest win of our program this year,” said Parkview’s Head Coach Catherine Zidow.

“My team definitely stepped up their play and upset Hebron in the finals,” Coach Zidow said.

Parkview will use this momentum for the region championships starting next Thursday.

Here are some stats from Parkview’s biggest contributors (all seniors) on Saturday:
Daron Blankenship had 32 digs and 8 aces.
Rachel White had 13 kills.
Courtney Duck had 18 kills and 6 blocks.
