Police: Armed Robbery Ends With Victim Shot

Non-life-threatening injury in Friday night incident in Norcross area, according to Gwinnett County Police.

An armed robbery attempt led to one victim shot and a manhunt in a wooded area, according to Gwinnett County Police.

Anthony Penick, 20, is charged with armed robbery. Ezekiel Boyd, 17, is charged with armed robbery and aggravated assault.

Officers responded at 8:20 p.m. Friday to 1355 Graves Road.

The victim Juan Sanchez, 35, told police he was outside of his apartment when a masked man approached with a shotgun, demanding money. A second armed suspect was carrying a handgun.

A friend of Sanchez attempted to wrestle the shotgun from the first suspect. The second suspect with the handgun then reportedly fired at Sanchez. He was transported and treated for a gunshot injury to his stomach. The injury was non-life threatening.

The two then fled in a ”cream colored” Toyota Corolla. Soon after the initial report, an officer responding to the scene located a vehicle matching that description. The driver ignored attempts for a traffic stop.

The two men abandoned the vehicle and fled into a wood line. K9 units and a police helicopter helped locate both suspects.
