Police Issue Stranger Danger Warnings

Police in several jurisdictions have issued separate suspicious person warnings, advising people of varying ages to be wary of strangers.

Police are warning the public to be wary of strangers after a series of incidents in several jurisdictions have given rise to concerns.

put out an alert warning of a suspicious vehicle on Barnes Court in Loganville. A grey or silver older model Pontiac Grand Am has reportedly been seen near a driveway in the mornings watching children get on the bus. The driver is described as a white male in his mid 50’s who does not live in the area. The complainant reported that the driver recently got out of his vehicle and opened the trunk, looking around for a while. When approached, the man got in his vehicle and sped away. Extra patrol has been requested.

In , that police have issued a warning for children who are walking to and from school after a Parkview High School student reported that a man tried to lure her as she walked to school Monday morning.

According to the report, the man stopped his car and tried to get the teen to come to his vehicle. The 17-year-old reportedly ran into Mountain Park Elementary for help. The man was described as being in his 30s, having brown hair and driving a black sedan.

In a separate report, the issued a press release advising that three senior women had been approached in separate incidents in recent days by a suspicious man. These women visited Bob’s Tire Service in Winder on different occasions asking to have their axles and wheels checked. The women told the company that a man had stopped them and told them their right rear wheel was wobbling. He reportedly offered to repair it for $325. The women refused to report the incidents to the police, but the staff at Bob’s Tire Service felt compelled to pass the information on. A check reportedly found nothing wrong with any of the vehicles.

According to , The suspicious man is described as a younger male with what is described as "greasy" hands. He is of unknown race but has been described as having a light complexion. One of women reported him as possibly being of Cuban descent but without much of an accent. He is said to be driving a newer model white truck, possibly a Ford and is said to approach women while driving.

The Winder Police Department is making extra patrols in areas where the activity is reported to have taken place. Motorists are advised to be aware of any activity that may resemble this type of incident. They are asking that anyone with information contact the Winder Police Department directly at 770-867-2156.
