Preliminary investigation showed that the man’s girlfriend was awaken by the man’s calls for help and found him wrestling with an unknown black male. She went to a neighbor’s house to call police, then heard gunshots from the home.

“As she was going back to the home, she saw 3 suspects (all black males),” police spokeswoman Cpl. Michele Pihera said in the email. “Two of the suspects were fleeing in a blue truck, and one suspect was seen fleeing on foot running toward the back of the home.”

None of the suspects had been found Friday afternoon.

Police said the girlfriend has been cooperative in the investigation, which is still active.
