Providence Baseball Reaches Class A Semis; Parkview Splits in AAAAA
High School sports: Stars sweep Hebron, Parkview splits in baseball; Providence and Panthers lose in soccer semifinals.
Tuesday was a mixed night for Lilburn-area athletic teams in state playoff competition.
The highlight was 's sweep of Hebron Christian in the Class A baseball semifinals. The Stars beat Hebron 2-0 and 2-1 in a double-header played in Dacula.
Also in baseball, scored a split with Cobb County's Hillgrove High, losing the first game 6-3 before winning the second game 4-1. The deciding third game is scheduled Wednesday at 5:55 p.m. at Hillgrove.

Local teams weren't so lucky in soccer semifinal matches, however. Parkview lost 5-1 at Centennial, and Providence fell at Aquinas (Augusta) 2-1, according to scores reported on www.EurosportScoreboard.com.
Providence's baseball sweep advances the Stars into the Class A semifinal to play either Calvary Day or Savanah Christian, which split Tuesday.

Scott Stahl pitched 6 3/4 innings and John Bailey got both RBIs in Tuesday's opener against Hebron. Josh Carter got the save.
Steven Slaughter pitched the win and added three hits in the second game.
Parkview, , used the complete-game pitching of Jesse Palmer to avoid elimination at Hillgrove. Matt Olson added a two-run home run.
