Repaving on Ga. 316 Will Close Lanes Beginning This Weekend
The Georgia DOT crews will be working every weekend (weather permitting) through Labor Day.

The Georgia Department of Transportation issued the following media release on a road project on Ga. 316 near Lawrenceville planned to begin this weekend:
Weekend resurfacing of Highway 316 from Herrington Road to Highway 120 in Lawrenceville will begin this Friday night, July 24 if weather permits. Crews will work every weekend that weather allows except Labor Day weekend until the work is finished.
- WHAT: This weekend, crews will begin in the inside lane of Highway 316 east, closing the inside lane and shoulder. Saturday, crews will also start work on Highway 316 westbound closing the shoulder and inside lane. Work will occur around the clock to remove damaged asphalt and replace it with new asphalt.
- WHEN: Weekend work hours are from 9 p.m. Fridays to 5 a.m. Mondays. Friday night the inside eastbound lane will close. Saturday, the inside westbound lane will also close leaving only one lane open in each direction. Work will occur around the clock each weekend from 9 p.m. Friday through 5 a.m. Monday that weather permits.
- WHY: The pavement surface and structure is damaged and needs replacing. This 3.76 mile long project was awarded to C.W. Matthews Contracting of Marietta for a contract cost of $5 million. The project completion date is May 31, 2016.
