
ATLANTA, GA – June 20, 2013- State Representative Brian Thomas (D-Lilburn) of HD-100 in Gwinnett County will resign from office effective July 1, 2013 to pursue new professional opportunities.
“It has been an honor to serve my constituents and the residents of Georgia for over eight years,” said Rep. Thomas. “As the new National Director of Cultural Resources Services for Natural Resources Group, I will be headquartered in their offices in Lamoine, Maine. I wish the best to my colleagues as they continue to represent the citizens of Georgia.”
“Rep. Brian Thomas has been a strong and consistent voice for Gwinnett and for the citizens of Georgia. As an environmental leader, an education advocate and a leader within the Democratic Party, Georgia has been the beneficiary of a nimble and effective leader. Rep. Brian Thomas was first elected in 2005, representing House District 100 in Lilburn, Georgia. Prior to joining the legislature, Rep. Thomas served in the United States Army. He holds a Ph.D. in Anthropology and J.D. from Georgia State University College of Law, and he is a new member of the Georgia Bar.
