Parkview’s boys and girls teams lost at home in the Big Orange Jungle to Mill Creek Tuesday night. The boys fell 3-1, the girls lost 4-2.
In the boy’s game, senior Taylor Scalera scored a hat trick for the Mill Creek Hawks (3-1-1) to beat the Panthers (3-2).
Scalera’s first goal came when he sprinted past the Parkview defenders to control a long pass and curl the ball past Panther keeper Jack Falle.

Parkview went into halftime down 1-0.
The second half was much of the same from the Hawks. Scalera and Hoppines combined attack created problems for Parkview’s defenders.
Panther midfielder, Bryan Ramirez was constantly defending deep to cover for his teammates. Falle’s frustration at his defense was audible throughout the night.
Scalera exploited the slow defense by sprinting past to score two more goals in the second half, completing his hat-trick.
“It was amazing,” said Scalera. “I don’t want to take all the credit for those goals. I could not have without the hard work and help from my teammates.”
Nick Muntean of Mill Creek provided plenty of passes that connected with Scalera and Hoppines. Parkview rarely got past the Hawks defense led by captain Austin Butler.
Playmaker Santiago Gubatosi of Parkview sat out for most of the second half.
The Panthers kept fighting to get at least one goal to keep the score respectable.
With 40 seconds left in the game, Jonathon Jarrett was the only Panther to score.
It was a fantastic goal from a difficult angle as Jarrett came rushing in near the end line, forced his way through the Hawks defense to squeeze it by the keeper and the post.
One play was too little enough for Parkview. Parkview only made two threatening shots on goal.
Parkview’s girls (2-3) fall to Mill Creek (5-0) by a 4-2 score Tuesday.
Parkview’s girls have lost three of the last four games. Coach Hamby was so disappointed that the girls spent 40 minutes running laps after the game.
The game started well for the Parkview as the Ober sisters connected for a goal. Senior Alex Ober sent a cross to her freshman sister Maddie Ober in the 16th minute.
Torie Scalera, sister of hat-trick hero Taylor of the boys game, scored a goal before half-time for Mill Creek to make it 1-1.
Scalera added another goal a minute after halftime. Alex Bowen of Parkview scored off a corner to tie the game at 2-2.
Mill Creek proceeded to play team soccer and scored two more goals to win 4-2.
Parkview will play at Berkmar next Tuesday, beginning with the girl’s game at 5:30 p.m.
