Tai Chi is a series of slow, thoughtful movements based on ancient martial arts. Qi Gong (or Chi Kung) is gentle stretching exercises, you can do them sitting or standing and it is more meditative in nature. We will go over the Yang Style 8 Form of Tai Chi, and different Qi Gong stretching exercises every week
Tai Chi and Qi Gong promote the movement of energy within the body, resulting in a better sense of balance, stronger muscles, relaxation and calmness. The slow movements require concentration, which is calming and yet energizing after a stressful day at work. If you can stand for an hour, you will gain the most benefit, but if you need to sit, we can adapt the movements to your abilities. Many scientific studies have shown Tai Chi to be effective in lowering blood pressure, easing arthritis and fibromyalgia pain, lessening depression and better balance for fall prevention.
