Men Attempt to Rob Exxon Owner

Inside the Police Reports: Two males allegedly tried to rob the owner of a local Exxon gas station earlier this month.

Two men allegedly tried to rob the owner of a local Exxon gas station earlier this month.

The owner, 25, was walking to his car from the Exxon food mart, located at 930 Indian Trail Lilburn. According to the police report, the incident took place Nov. 19 around 2 p.m.

The victim told Gwinnett County police that he had a large carton of eggs in his arms when a man ran up to him and pointed a handgun in his face. The owner said the suspect, who was wearing a ski cap, demanded his keys several times and also to "hand over everything."

A second male came up to "assist" the first suspect. The two opened the carton with eggs in it, says the report, and then decided to leave by walking toward the rear of the store.

The cashier, 23, noticed the incident and called 911 from inside the store.

A search of the area was conducted, but officers were unable to locate anyone on foot. The report says it's possible a vehicle was waiting in the back of the store for their getaway.

The owner had video surveillance of the incident and showed it to police.

As the owner of four other gas stations, the victim told officers that two men had recently robbed his Norcross location, too. The owner suggested the suspects could be the same people since his employees' descriptions matched the suspects in his own encounter.

According to the police report, the officer on scene suspected the alleged robbers would have tried to abduct the owner using his own vehicle. The officer also believed it could be possible that they know the owner's schedule through one of his employees. The owner automatically negated that theory, saying he trusts his employees as if they're his family.
