Will Gwinnett See Thanksgiving Snow?

Other than a touch of snow in the northeast Georgia mountains, there should be no Thanksgiving holiday travel problems in the Atlanta area, with a weather forecast that calls for mostly clear skies and a return to the 60s.

Wednesday will be sunny with a high in the low 50s in Gwinnett County, predicts the National Weather Service, before clouds move in and bring a slight chance of rain overnight.

Gwinnett County is under a hazardous weather outlook through Wednesday night with a mix of rain and snow possible late Wednesday night. Little snow accumulation is expected; a half-inch of snow is possible by noon on Thanksgiving Day in the northeast Georgia mountains, the weather service says.

Thanksgiving Day should be mostly sunny but cool, a high in the upper 40s is expected.

WSB TV meteorologist Brad Nitz said there’s a “real possibility” of Thanksgiving Day snow flurries in the north Georgia mountains.

“It will be more of a curiosity than anything else,” Nitz told AJC.com. “It shouldn’t cause any problems.”

And the weekend will be gorgeous: Sunny with a high close to 60 Saturday, highs climbing to the mid-60s on Sunday.

That’s something to be thankful for.
