1 Dead, 1 Charged In Domestic Gwinnett Incident

GRAYSON, GA — Police have identified the woman killed in a domestic-related shooting Sunday in the 300 block of Wilkerson Way, according to Gwinnett County Police and a media report

Officers responded around 8:45 a.m. to the incident in unincorporated Grayson after being notified by a neighbor, police said Monday.

A manner of death was not revealed by police, but a WAGA-TV report said the incident was a shooting.

Police said they investigated the case as a domestic-related homicide and identified the woman who was killed as Sharell Canty, 44, of Grayson.

Investigators have arrested Stephany Byrom, 48, of Grayson, on charges of malice murder, felony murder, aggravated assault and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, police said.

Gwinnett County Jail records on Tuesday showed Byrom is being held without bond.

A motive in the incident was not revealed.
