All Star Music: Channel Your Inner "Star"

Young and "young at heart" can find what they need to hone their musical skills at All Star Music on Athens Highway in Loganville.

John and Gina Eades, owners of in , have everything you need for your musical interests. Besides having a diverse selection of new and used brand name guitars, drums, and pianos for sale, they also have various school band instruments. Guitar repair and maintenance is available on-site with band instrument repair available on a send-out basis. Music books and accessories are plentiful. Lessons are given in private studios that are easily accessible for parental viewing.

 John Eades explained that he used to run Galaxy Music in Stone Mountain, but when the owner retired and asked Eades to take over the business, Eades decided he would prefer to have his own shop in his hometown of Loganville. The Eades favor the idea that they are dealing with local schools and local people.

"We have between 100-120 people taking lessons each year" said Eades. His wife, Gina, runs the lessons department. "Most kids start lessons around 10 years old" he said. "The average age of our students is 12, but we see all ages."

"I take lessons back home in New Jersey" said Patrick Parker, 15. "I spend the summers with my Dad in Loganville and thought I could keep up my guitar skills by continuing lessons here."

"I do it for the fun of it" said Adam Linkford, a junior high school student from Between. "I've been taking lessons at All Star for 2 years now." Linkford has aspirations of working in video production in the future, but the guitar is his fun activity at the moment.

"Being retired is not just for sitting around" said Lida Ludwick, a Loganville local. "Retirement is also for enrichment, which is why I am taking piano lessons."

The retired Dekalb County School tech support worker is into her third week of lessons and is thoroughly enjoying the experience. All three students agreed that All Star Music lessons are great for seniors and students alike.

The All Star team has more than 60 collective years of experience in the music industry. Eades is a semi-pro guitarist who currently plays with the band Plastic Overlords. He can be found at the 40 Watt Club in Athens. Previously he played with Jaye Swift & Co. which was heard and seen on radio and TV along with opening some popular acts such as Van Halen.

Paul Montineri and his brother used to run Montineri Custom Drums in the 80's and was known nationwide as a featured drummer. He is the drum expert at All Star and gives lessons.

Michael Collins, general sales manager and guitarist, and Adam Youngblood, internet web designer and guitar repairman, round out the All Star Team.
