Tom and Phyllis Rudolph of Loganville recently celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary. Such a milestone is worth recognizing and when asked what the secret is to such a rich and successful marriage, Phyllis replied, “first you have to marry the RIGHT person and you should always share responsibilities.”
The couple met on a USO tour in the early 50’s, entertaining troops stationed on the Aleutian Islands, in Canada, Alaska, Greenland & Labrador. Tom was a singer and Phyllis a dancer. They married on June 17, 1952 at Sacred Heart Church in Atlanta. Tom graduated from UGA in 1950 and worked in education for over 40 years moving from teaching in a classroom to serving as principal at both Peeples Street and Dean Rusk Elementary Schools. After receiving his doctorate in education, Dr. Tom Rudolph retired in 1990 as Assistant Area Superintendent in the Atlanta Public School System.
Phyllis was also involved in education, working in the Dekalb County School System for over 20 years, most of which were in the Finance Department at the county office. She retired in 1991.

She also taught dancing at various Children’s Homes in Atlanta. They are both active members at Corpus Christi Catholic Church in Stone Mountain.
When not busy volunteering, the couple enjoys spending time with their 4 surviving children, 10 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
