Arrested Man Escapes From Gwinnett Hospital
Police are seeking help finding Kevin Dawkins, 27, who was arrested for possession of cocaine on Sunday.
SNELLVILLE, GA — Gwinnett County Police are asking for the public's help finding a man they'd arrested who escaped from a local hospital on Sunday.
At about 7 p.m., officers responded to a suspicious person call on Burdette Place in Snellville. Kevin Dawkins, 27, was arrested for possession of cocaine.
During the arrest, police say, Dawkins refused to comply with officers and was tased. Officers placed him in custody and contacted an ambulance because he was drifting in and out of consciousness.

Eventually, he was taken to Eastside Medical Center, where police say he ran away before the arresting officer arrived. Police say Dawkins is not believed to be dangerous, but that it's their responsibility to bring him back into custody.
He faces charges of possession of cocaine, obstruction and escape. Dawkins is described as a black male with a slim build and black short hair, standing 5'11" and weighing about 170, with a scar on his elbow and a tattoo on his chest that says "Wall Mart." He was last seen wearing blue pants and a blue shirt and, when he escaped, he was still wearing handcuffs.

Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to call 911 or call Gwinnett County Police at 770-513-5700. To remain anonymous, tipsters may contact Crime Stoppers at 404-577-TIPS (8477) or visit the Crime Stoppers website. Crime Stoppers tipsters can receive up to $2,000 for information leading to an arrest and indictment in this case.
