Avoid the Fly-By-Night Roofing Contractors

So you've noticed that your roof is looking pretty rough.  It's been twenty years or so since it was last roofed by a guy that went out of business long ago.  You need to choose a new roofer, but where do you start?

Start with a referral from someone.  A friend, neighbor, co worker.  You usually can't go wrong with a referral.  Good roofers attract repeat customers and word of mouth is the best advertising.  Find a local roofing contractor with ties to your community.  Someone who has been around for a long time and isn't going anywhere anytime soon.  A contractor with experience, longevity and a good reputation, like Bryant Roofing and Repairs (www.bryantroofing.com).

But beware the roofers that show up at your door uninvited.  Often times they are storm-chasers, roofers who live in another state but set up shop in your hometown to cash in on damages caused by a recent storm. They may know how to roof a house, but their business practices could be unethical.  The cheap price they quote you might not be worth the hassle and headache when your brand new roof sprouts a leak and the "cheap" roofer is nowhere to be found.
