
In the early 80’s, a middle-aged Tina Turner had a “comeback” song called “What’s Love Got to Do with It.” In the music video she struts down the street in a denim jacket, skirt and high heels, looking absolutely fabulous. I was twenty years old at the time. I said to myself, “when I’m fifty years old I want to look as good as Tina Turner does at her age!” That was almost thirty years ago, and it’s not looking like I’m going to achieve Tina’s fit and trim figure by the time I’m fifty.
Oh well. That’s ok. Because I’ve got my health. My dad used to say, “if you’ve got your health, you’ve got everything.” And I’m very thankful for it.
My husband and I have a successful roofing business (www.bryantroofing.com). We have our own house and nice vehicles to ride in. I’d love to have a bigger house with a nicer truck to drive. Who wouldn’t? But I’m so very grateful for the things we do have.

In her song “Soak Up the Sun” Sheryl Crow reminds us “it’s not having what you want, it’s wanting what you’ve got.” You may think you don’t have much, but you should be thankful for what you do have.
At this time of year, families will gather around the dinner table with a big fat turkey bird, trimmed with all the fixin’s. They’ll all say grace and thank the good Lord for their blessings, and then they’ll dive into their meal.
