🌱 Metro Atlanta Bear Sightings Increase + Loganville 4th Of July

First, today's weather:
Very warm with periods of sun. High: 96 Low: 72.
Here are the top five stories in Loganville-Grayson today:
- A Gwinnett County resident caught a black bear on a surveillance camera making its way across the yard. According to the Georgia Department of Natural Resources, bears are seeking food and shelter which may increase the number of bear sightings in metro Atlanta neighborhoods. Residents are encouraged to take down bird feeders for the next few weeks in an effort to discourage bears from wandering into yards. (WSBTV)
- The family of the woman convicted of killing a Grayson native in 2021, wants a new trial. Damia Mitchell was sentenced to 140 years in federal prison for fatally shooting Faith Burns. Four other teenage girls received 10 years in prison after accepting plea deals for aggravated assault. (Fox 5 Atlanta)
- Loganville will be hosting an Independence Celebration on Saturday at West Walton Park. The festivities begin at 6:00 p.m. and run until 10:30 p.m. Participants will have the opportunity to enjoy kid-friendly activities, fireworks, and a live concert. (City of Loganville)
- The Christmas in July festival will be at Grayson Community Park on Friday, July 30. The festival will be from 10:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. The city is currently accepting applications for festival vendors. To apply, click here. (City of Grayson)
