Here are the top stories today in Loganville-Grayson:
- The GBI's Internet Crimes Against Children task force was instrumental in the arrest of 11 people after over 200 digital devices revealed adults attempting to exploit children in a sexual manner. The warrants were served in Clayton, Dekalb, Newton, Spalding, Gwinnett, and Fulton counties over 4 days in January during Operation "Happy New Year." The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children passed along the CyberTips that led to the warrants issued on each of the 11 people in Georgia. (11alive)
- General Beauregard has made his prediction. The infamous groundhog did not see his shadow yesterday as he emerged at the Yellow River Wildlife Sanctuary in Gwinnett County. Unlike his counterpart, Punxsutawney Phil, General 'Beau' predicts an early spring. In fact, Georgia's groundhogs have only predicted longer winters three times in the last 32 years, and "according to PolitiFact in 2011, Lee has a better track record than Phil." Most Georgians are hoping that this year is no different! (Fox 5 Atlanta)
- The House voted 170-1 on Thursday to approve House Bill 18. The bill, which will now be sent to the Senate for further debate. If passed, the bill will give Georgians a $1 billion property tax break and a $1 billion income tax break. Additional spending will be designated to ease the cost of employee health insurance in public schools, security grants for schools, replenishing the road-building accounts after the 10-month gas tax suspension.
