Here are the top five stories in Loganville-Grayson today:

  1. The Benton House of Grayson has been awarded "Best Memory Care" by US News and World Report. Out of 3,000 participating communities, 20 Benton Houses were honored based on resident and family surveys. The senior living community also holds a Great Place to Work status. (Gwinnettdailypost.com)
  2. The last seat on the Gwinnett school board comes down to a runoff between candidates. Both shared thoughts on school safety and recent state legislation regarding how race is being taught in public schools. Williams believes legislation limiting discussion of divisive concepts will protect children, while Simmons believes the legislation displays a distrust of teachers.   4. Business is picking up for the Blight Busters of the Gwinnett Litter Cleanup & Quality of Life Volunteer Group. Co-founder, Donna Swessel explained that cleaning the communities "keeps crime down and property values up." The group of 342 members serves in Centerville, Lilburn, Lawrenceville, Snellville, Loganville, and Grayson. (Gwinnett Citizen)
  5. Federal prosecutors accused five gang members of murdering suspected police informants and stashing bodies in a Gwinnett storage unit. All five members were indicted on Racketeer Influenced and Corruption Organization conspiracy charges. Two of the members were also charged with Violent Crime in Aid of Racketeering-murder; use of a firearm resulting in death; and the carry, use, and discharge of a firearm during and in relation to a crime of violence.
