Body of Snellville Man Pulled From Lake Lanier

Robert St. Louis, 29, was swimming in the lake at Van Pugh North Park.

SNELLVILLE, GA -- A Gwinnett County man died Tuesday from drowning in Lake Lanier.

Robert St. Louis, 29, of Snellville, was swimming in the lake at Van Pugh North Park Tuesday evening, WSB-TV reports.

Witnesses told the station that people were enjoying the sun and water at the park when they heard sounds of distress.

Volunteers including at one EMT, tried to save St. Louis but weren't able to do so.

The Hall County Fire Services marine rescue team arrived and took over. About 50 minutes later, they say, they found St. Louis's body in about 20 feet of water.
