Honor Our Veterans on Nov. 11th in Loganville

Citizens are invited to honor our military at a cermony on November 11, 2012 at 11:00am. Seating will be provided at Loganville City Hall for the 2nd annual Veterans Day Ceremony.

On Sunday, November 11th, at 11 a.m., the City of Loganville in conjunction with the American Legion Riders Post 233, will host a Veterans Day ceremony on the front lawn of City Hall. They are inviting the community to join them in thanking veterans for their service.

The ceremony will commence with a Presentation of Colors  from the American Legion Color Guard. Military Spouse and City Councilwoman Michelle Lynch, will serve as the presenter of the ceremony.  Greetings will be extended by both Mayor Ray Nunley and American Legion Post 233 Commander Jim Carmona.

"Our military personnel endure great sacrifice during their service.  It is so important for us to thank them and express our respect for them not only today, but each and every day," Lynch said.

Guest speakers will consist of military spouse Julie DeVries, local retired veteran Asst. Chief Lowry, as well as an American Legion veteran Charlie Tucker.  A wreath laying ceremony, presented by Mr. James Gray and Mr. Ronnie Gray, will occur at the  Veterans Memorial in front of City Hall.  The ceremony will conclude  with the Retirement of Colors.

This year serves as the second year for the event, taking place under the American flag and military branch flags on the front lawn.

"Last year hosted a great turnout from citizens," Lynch said. "and I look forward to seeing an even larger crowd this year. Many civilians look for a way to honor our military and seek a way to thank them.  November 11th, at City Hall, is the perfect opportunity for them to do just that."
