Loganville Tree Lighting
Mayor Nunley will light the city tree with help from the children. Imagine those bragging rights? I can hear our little Loganvillers now, "See that 30 ft. tree? I helped Mayor Nunley light it!"
The time has come for one of my most favorite events of the year, the City's annual tree lighting. On November 25th, the City of Loganville is hosting its 3rd annual tree lighting event on the front lawn of City Hall.
At 6:00pm I greet Santa, who will arrive via the American Legion's Forty and Eight train. After our greeting, I help him make his way through the crowd up to the sleigh. Mayor Nunley will light the Loganville Tree with the help of all the children. Imagine those bragging rights? I can hear our little Loganvillers now, "See that 30 ft. tree? I helped Mayor Nunley light it!" Complimentary hot drinks and tasty cookies will be served by the Loganville Woman's Club. Yes, the weatherman is forcasting temperatures around the 60 mark but wouldn't you agree that coffee and hot chocolate are surely two ingredients necessary for the holiday season? Santa will sit for a while in his sleigh, from 6:00pm to 8:00pm, visiting with each boy and girl. It will be time for our children to put their lists together and divulge their wishes for the treats they hope to see under their tree. Santa's camera crew will be set up to capture the moment with digital photos. Pictures will be e-mailed to the families after the event at absolutely no charge. Volunteers will help children with writing their letters to Santa, handing out activities and sharing holiday cheer. Holiday music will delight the ears of all who attend.
Friday will host a perfect opportunity for folks to kick off the holiday season and enjoy community fellowship. Adults and children alike will tilt their heads up toward the sky and, in wonderment, watch snow fall down around them. There will be snow falling down at Loganville's Tree Lighting! For those who haven't had the opportunity to attend in the past, they should know they will enjoy a great holiday event in which they can keep their wallets at home. This event is brought to all who attend at absolutely no charge. Visitors will feel the warm camaraderie of a wonderful community, the City of Loganville who lives up to its motto, "Where People Matter".
Be sure to visit with our incredible sponsors who help bring such a great event to our City. Extend your gratitude to Athens First Bank & Trust, SunTrust Bank, The Walton Tribune, Loganville Woman's Club, American Legion Post 233, Photographer Eric Ash, Golden Productions and all our volunteers. The event is an amazing success because of our great city employees as well. They deserve the accolades received by all who attend and enjoy.
