What is the Point of Internet Marketing?

Before I get into this blog post, I need to let you all in on a bit of info and why you haven’t seen a blog post from me in a couple of weeks. The biggest reason you haven’t seen any blog posts is because I have been writing a book! The book is titled, Website Marketing Help! Ok, so let’s get into what I wanted to share/discuss with you today.

What is the Point of Internet Marketing?

I was sitting in a meeting yesterday and we were discussing a redesign of their website. The purpose of the redesign is to grab more buyers based around the amount of traffic that the site is getting. They have done a ton of SEO and Internet marketing, but the amount of buyers from the website could definitely be better than it currently is. Which brings me to my question… What is the point of Internet Marketing? One word: conversions

You can call conversions what ever you want, a sale, getting an email address, getting a phone number, a new Facebook like, a retweet, getting someone to call your business or making 7 figures from your website. All of these are stemming from the same thing, a conversion.

Personally I call a conversion someone who gives me money because of something they did or saw in my online marketing. One of the things I talk about in my book is how you need a strong “call to action” on your website. How are you ever going to get a conversion if people don’t know what you want them to do once they get to your website?

The point of Internet marketing is to ultimately make money! If you have 100,000 people a month going to your website and no one is buying, then you have just wasted a lot of time and money getting that much traffic there! If you have something setup on your website that converts 1% of that 100,000 people then you potentially just made 1,000 new sales. Now tell me, how much is that worth? If you are a candy store, probably $1000, but if you sell bigger ticket items, where you make $100 on each sale. Well you do the math and see that you are now making an extra 100k.

So remember when you are doing any and all of your marketing that the whole reason you are doing that is to get a conversion! Conversion = money in your pocket!

Short sweet and to the point, don’t you think? So go look at all your marketing and make sure you have a strong call to action so that you can start getting those conversions. You could change one thing on your website or marketing that could make you an extra $1000 or $10,000 this month. DO IT!
