Care Home Worker Hit, Kicked, Strangled Disabled Woman: Police

Lisa Williams, 44, of Lithonia, worked at Personal Touch care home in Loganville.

LOGANVILLE, GA -- An employee of a Loganville personal care home faces exploitation and assault charges after police say video showed her hitting, kicking and strangling a wheelchair-bound woman.

Lisa Williams, 44, of Lithonia, faces two counts of exploitation of a disabled adult and one count of aggravated assault by strangulation in the case.

"We are disgusted and saddened that people who are tasked with caring for some of the most vulnerable people in our society would use that as an opportunity to do intentional harm to them," Gwinnett County Police spokesman Cpl. Deon Washington said in a statement. "We will not tolerate these types of acts against any member of our community."

Police were called Wednesday by the son of the woman, who lives at Personal Touch care home in Loganville.

The son suspected his mother was being abused, and she told him the same, so he set up hidden cameras in the room where she was staying.

Video the son captured showed Williams hitting the victim in the head, kicking her legs, dropping her on the floor and strangling her with her own shirt, police say.

"Her physical condition prevented her from being able to ward off such repulsive attacks," the police statement said.

Washington said detectives are still investigating and reviewing video to determine if any additional charges will be filed against Williams in the case or if other residents of the home were similarly abused.
