- Happy National Bobblehead Day! Who knew? In honor of our Georgia Bulldogs and their National Championship game this weekend, the National Bobblehead Hall of Fame and Museum released two Georgia Bulldog Talking Bobbleheads. The bobbleheads even play the "Georgia Fight Song," "Glory," and "Hail to Georgia." You can purchase one of the Hairy Dogs in this link. They are all numbered up to number 2023. (Monroe Local)
- A Gwinnett County school bus, with no kids on board, crashed yesterday morning, shutting down Hamilton Mill Rd. for some time. Three people involved in the crash were injured, and two people are in critical condition. The school bus driver left the scene with non-life threatening injuries. Gwinnett County schools did confirm that it was one of their buses. (11alive)
- An unarmed man, was shot and beaten, in Snellville yesterday, when he tried to enter his former home on Rockdale Circle. The man suffered from a medical condition and did not intend any harm as he thought he was entering his own home, and he did not use force to enter. A call came in regarding a burglary, and the responding officer found the man being beaten a half-mile away from the residence at the entrance to the neighborhood and while breaking up the altercation, he realized the man had also been shot. The two men who resided in the home have been arrested on various charges due to the attack happening so far from the residence, and the victim is receiving medical treatment and will not face any charges. From my notebook:
- A feel good story from neighboring Monroe highlights an unlikely friendship. Two young brothers, Gage and Talmadge Masiello, stop by their local gas station, Smiley's, every day for a snack and a visit with their dear friend. Mr. William Scott, a 72-year old attendant at Smiley's, shares a smile and little wisdom with the boys during their visits, and they have all become good friends. The boys noticed that Mr. Scott's car was in rough shape, and they wanted to know that he'd be safe and warm during the winter months, so they approached friends in the community and raised over $1000 to give him for Christmas. Mr. Scott was overwhelmed with their generosity, but the boys' mother says that what he has taught them at a young age is such a blessing to their lives. After the story spread, the boys were able to raise another $800, and they will soon give that to Mr. Scott as well. (iheart.com)
- Congratulations Loganville High School baseball players Jordan Davis and Mason Steele as they signed their National Letters of Intent Friday afternoon at LHS. Both will be playing baseball in college. Davis will be headed to ABAC, and Steele will be going to Gadsden State in the fall. (Facebook)
