Here are the top five stories in Loganville-Grayson today:
- The 31st annual Corky Kell Classic, Georgia's official kickoff to high school football season, begins tomorrow, Aug. 17. There will be 22 teams from across the state participating in 11 games over the next several days. The showdown between Grayson and Marietta, happening at Mercedes-Benz Stadium at 7:00 p.m., will close out the 2022 Classic. (Atlanta Journal Constitution)
- On Tuesday, Gwinnett County commissioners approved an increase in trash collection fees for local residents in unincorporated communities. The new fee will amount to an additional $16.38 per year. However, the County has also implemented new accountability requirements for the five trash haulers that service the county, including performance standards. (Subscription: Gwinnettdailypost.com)
- The City of Loganville is accepting applications for Loganville Development Authority board members now through Sep. 12. - The Gwinnett County Sheriff's Office is currently looking for local law enforcement professionals who want to serve their community as a deputy jailer. - Gwinnett County is hosting its annual supplier networking event this Thursday, Aug. 18. The event will be held from 8:30 to 11:00 a.m at the Gwinnett Justice and Administration Center in Lawrenceville, less than 15 minutes outside of Grayson.
