Deputy Shoots And Kills Suspect: GBI
The shooting happened after a traffic stop in Greene County on Friday.

WOODVILLE, GA — A Georgia sheriff's deputy shot and killed a suspect during a fight after a traffic stop, state authorities say.
According to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, a Greene County sheriff's deputy made a traffic stop near the intersection of Ga. 77 and Penfield Road in Woodville on Friday. During the stop, Charles David Robinson, 47, got out of his vehicle and tried to run away, the GBI says.
The deputy chased him and there was a struggle between the two. During the struggle, the GBI says, the deputy shot Robinson. He was transported to St. Mary's Good Samaritan Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

The deputy was transported to an Athens hospital for treatment and was later released.
The Greene County Sheriff's Office called in the GBI to investigate the incident, which is standard procedure in the case of officer-involved shootings. An autopsy on Robinson will be conducted by the GBI's medical examiner's office in Decatur.

When the investigation is complete, the GBI will turn over its findings to the Greene County District Attorney's office for review.
Woodville is just north of Interstate 20, about 90 miles east of Atlanta and about 30 miles south of Athens.
