Drunk DeKalb Cop Holds Gun To Friend's Head, Says 'I'll Kill You'

"Heavily intoxicated" DeKalb cop holds gun to neighbor's head, saying, "I'll [expletive] kill you," police say.

LOGANVILLE, GA — A "heavily intoxicated" DeKalb County police officer was arrested Saturday after holding a gun to the head of his neighbor and threatening to kill him, according to a Gwinnett County police report.

Richard A. LePage, 49, of Loganville, has been charged with aggravated assault. He has been reportedly placed on administrative leave from the DeKalb County Police Department.

Police were called by LePage's neighbor. When police arrived the neighbor directed them to LePage's home where LePage had her husband kneeling in front of him with a pistol pointed at the back of his head. LePage was telling him "I'll [expletive] kill you," according to the report.

The arresting officer pointed his gun at LePage, ordering him to place his pistol on the floor. LePage complied and he was handcuffed. That is when, the report says, he identified himself as a DeKalb police officer.

LePage's "eyes were blood shot red and he had a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage" coming from him, the report says. LePage repeatedly asked to be left out of his handcuffs.

The victim told police he and LePage had been drinking at the victim’s house since about 6 p.m. that day. At some point, they got into an argument and LePage went to his home across the street, the report says. The victim followed LePage home, and LePage pulled a pistol on him, the report says. LePage said he had not been at the neighbor’s house that day.

The victim's wife told police that she “nearly had an affair” with LePage 10 years ago, and at some point that was brought up while he and her husband were drinking, causing an argument, the report says.

LePage's Glock 26, magazine and pistol rounds were turned in as evidence, the report says.

LePage posted $5,700 bond and was released approximately five hours after being arrested and booked into the Gwinnett County Jail.
