I hope everyone had a great Christmas and holiday season! I have been out there treating some of our Fescue lawns in Atlanta this week and they are looking fantastic! We are applying balanced Nitrogen and Potassium along with some weed control right now. Fescues tend to have more weeds than usual around this time because of the lower amounts of weed control used during seeding season. It also takes weeds a little longer to die because it is so cold out. You can expect to wait around 2-3 weeks this time of year for weeds to die. The Nitrogen should be making Fescue lawns "pop" right about now. It is a Winter lawn and in the right landscape, can be very attractive this time of year. If you ever have any questions about what grass may be appropriate in your landscape, your Tech is trained to help you identify where certain turf types will thrive and where you may have problems in the future. Landscape is very important to turf survival. Slopes, proximity to trees, shade, water retention, soil quality, and irrigation are just some of the things that can affect how well your grass does. Let us know if we can help. Kemko 770-466-6113
