- Crews worked to stop a sewer overflow in Lawrenceville on Tuesday. Over 1,800 gallons of sewage spilled into a tributary of the Yellow River before crews could contain the overflow from a utility hole. According to Gwinnett County Department of Water Resources, some items labeled "flushable" do not always break apart causing blockages that can result in sewer backups and overflows once they enter the system. The area affected was raked and lime was spread, and the DWR put up signs to warn residents of the spill. (WSB Atlanta)
- The vacant District 1 seat of the Walton County Board of Education will be decided on Tuesday, March 21. The seat became vacant after Simoan Capers Baker resigned due to legal trouble stemming from theft by conversion charges and because she moved out of the district. The charges allege that Baker stole money from a conservatorship she was overseeing on behalf of a minor. However, at the time of her resignation, if was too late to remove her name from the ballot. Superintendent Nathan Franklin said the board has approved and set the date for the special election on March 21. (Monroe Local)
- An elderly Dekalb resident was scammed out of $11,000 when he purchased a car from a nearby Stone Mountain dealership. Turns out that the car was stolen, the dealership switched the VIN and gave the buyer a fake car title. A police investigation uncovered another 20 fraudulent titles and several more stolen cars.
