GCPS Announces 2015 Gwinnett STAR Students

Five seniors are sharing the 2015 Gwinnett County STAR Student honors, Gwinnett County Public Schools said in a press release.

The students and their teachers were recognized during the annual STAR Student and Teacher Luncheon on Friday at the Northeast Atlanta Hilton in Peachtree Corners.

Also named were the STAR student from each high school (see list below).

2105 Gwinnett STAR Students/Teachers

• Ryan Chen, Brookwood High

Teacher: Chris Michael, an AP Calculus BC gifted teacher at Brookwood High

• Vikram S. Varadarajan, Duluth High

Teacher: Geri Flanery, an AP Human Geography teacher at Duluth High

• Katie Irwin, Greater Atlanta Christian School

Teacher: Donna Love, an Honors English teacher at GACS

• Ben Brosofsky, Hebron Christian Academy

Teacher: Lizzy Sutton, an AP Calculus teacher at Hebron Christian Academy

• Sida Tang, Parkview High

Teacher: Phil Heier, an AP Physics C teacher at Parkview High

All of the honored will represent Georgia at the regional STAR competition.

The Student Teacher Achievement Recognition (STAR) program was created to recognize Georgia’s outstanding high school seniors and the teachers who have been most instrumental in their academic development.
