  1. Following nationwide and global declines in college enrollment amid the pandemic, Georgia Gwinnett College saw new student enrollment up 14 percent from the fall 2021 semester. Michael Poll, GGC's vice president of Enrollment Management Services, credits the trend to the college's outreach to local high school campuses. Students in and around Gwinnett County are able to take advantage of services like college workshops, instant decision days, and counseling appointments. (Gwinnettdailypost.com)
  2. Are you interested in opening your home to children in the community? The Georgia Division of Family Services is hosting a foster parent information session tonight (Tuesday, Aug. 30) at the Grayson Branch Library from 6:30-7:30 p.m. Attendees will learn general information about foster care and have the opportunity to ask questions about the process.   3. A case of monkeypox has been reported in Gwinnett County Public Schools. Health department officials say an adult at Dacula Elementary School tested positive. In a statement to 11Alive, the Gwinnett Newton Rockdale (GNR) Public Health Department said, "GNR Public Health works closely with the school systems in our districts. We [...] will continue to follow up and support [staff] as the need for disease education arises." (11Alive)
