Here are the top five stories today in Loganville-Grayson:

  1. Georgia Gwinnett College has constructed a new internship program that will pair students with nonprofits in the area to help them gain insight, build interest, and enhance the options they have for nonprofit careers. The program will be geared toward juniors and seniors, and it will give them a semester-long internship where they'll be paid up to $20 an hour for about 25 hours a week. Community Foundation for Northeast Georgia is one of the multiple donors helping fund the program, helping to create around $210,000 in support. (Gwinnettdailypost.com)
  2. A Walton County couple was arrested on aggravated child molestation and sexual exploitation charges last week. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation's Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force was informed of an individual who may have been downloading child sexual abuse material, leading to a search warrant in Loganville. Within hours, authorities discovered Z. Jacoby Zulock and W. Dale Zulock's abuse and documentation of their adopted children. The children are now in protective custody, and the couple is incarcerated. (Your Local News)
  3. The Loganville City Council will hold its monthly work session today, Aug. 8, starting at 6:30 p.m. The work session will be held in the Council Chambers at City Hall and will also be available via YouTube Live.   4. Robert Elliott Sheppard, a former metro Atlanta postal worker, pled guilty to trying to send cocaine and marijuana in the mail while he was on disability. He delivered drug packages through the mail to a drug trafficker, according to the Department of Justice. Sheppard coordinated illegal deliveries with two coworkers at the Sandy Springs post office to attempt to avoid detection. (WSB Atlanta)
  5. Looking for a new ride? If you're in the Norcross area anytime soon, the Norcross Police Department will hold an auction of seven surplus/seized vehicles. The auction will begin on Aug. 15 and end on Aug. 23 at 12 p.m. Anyone who wishes to bid should submit their bid in a sealed envelope in response to the invitation-to-bid, addressed to the department. The vehicles will be sold as they are, and the buyer will be responsible for paying any repair costs. (Gwinnettdailypost.com)
