Grayson DDA Elects New Officers

Grayson’s Downtown Development Authority elected a new officers Monday (Jan. 6). 

One of the new officers, Chip Mitchell, will replace the inaugural Chairman Jimmy Norton. 

“Our board has made great strides for Grayson in the first four years and will enjoy that continuity with Chip’s leadership,” said Norton.

“We are proud of the business growth in Grayson in the past several years,” said Mitchell. "The Downtown Development Authority is excited about working with the business community to assist in bringing additional jobs and investment to downtown."

Last year, the DDA opened the Grayson Business Incubator located in the 438 Building on Grayson Parkway. Recently, the DDA was instrumental in providing a redevelopment plan for Grayson and managing the City's application for Main Street designation from the Department of Community Affairs. "We are positioning ourselves as a business friendly community, and we are developing tools to assist new businesses as they grow” concluded Mitchell.

In addition to Mitchell, the DDA elected David Sitz as vice chairman, Tommy Carraway as treasurer and Josh Chastain as secretary.

Separately, a “Preliminary Regional Detention Analysis for Uptown/Town Center” prepared by Blue Landworks, LLC was commissioned by the DDA and presented to the City of Grayson. The study outlined potential sites and basins that could serve new development or re-development within the City. “The potential for offsite detention plays to creating a more walkable community, and more effective land use as Grayson plans its future” said Norton during the presentation.
