Grayson Man Charged With Attempted Murder in Cumming Robbery

The suspect had arranged to sell some tools to the victim on Craigslist, authorities say.

CUMMING, GA — A Grayson man is charged with attempted murder after police say he shot a man in a Kroger parking lot in Cumming.

Robert Frederick, 32, had arranged via Craigslist to sell some tools to Eugene Ryerson, 57, of Cumming, police say.

At about 11:25 p.m. on September 30, Forsyth County deputies responded to the Kroger at 1595 Peachtree Pkwy., where they found Ryerson sitting in the front seat of a pickup truck.

He had been shot in the right side.

Ryerson told deputies he had met to buy tools from a man he'd made contact with on Craigslist. He said he had purchased tools from the same man in the past.

But during this transaction, the man shot him, Ryerson said.

After a lengthy investigation, Frederick was identified as the suspect in the case.

On Friday, Forsyth County detectives, with the assistance of Gwinnett County Police, served a search warrant at Frederick's home in Grayson.

He was arrested, and small amounts of heroin and cocaine were found at his residence, as well as firearms.

Frederick was charged with attempted murder, criminal attempt, armed robbery and aggravated assault — all felony charges. He also faces weapons and drug charges in Gwinnett County.

He was booked into Forsyth County Jail, where he remains without bond.
