Gwinnett Bank Robber, 'Freedom Fighter Bandit' Arrested

A woman who is thought to have robbed Gwinnett banks recently was taken into custody in Tennessee.

GWINNETT COUNTY, GA — A woman who is thought to have robbed Gwinnett banks recently and is known as the "Freedom Fighter Bandit" by the FBI was taken into custody in Tennessee. Nilsa Marie Urena, 25, was arrested shortly after she robbed the Upper Cumberland Federal Credit Union near Nashville at about 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 3.

A serial bank robber, Urena is thought to have robbed the Hamilton State Bank in Dallas Jan. 25 by threatening employees and customers with a bomb, according to the FBI. The bank is located at 519 Hardee Street.

Urena has been dubbed the"Freedom Fighter Bandit" because she states that she is robbing the banks for a cause.

-First National Bank, 1501 W. McIntosh Road, Griffin, GA on Dec. 13, 2017
-First Citizens Bank, 36 GA-72, Comer, GA on Dec. 4, 2017
-Bank of the Ozarks, 9001 Hospital Drive, Douglasville, GA on Nov. 3, 2017
-Georgia's Own Credit Union, 2437 Loganville Hwy, Grayson, GA on Nov. 3, 2017
-Citizen Trust Bank, 2727 Panola Road, Lithonia, GA on Nov. 1, 2017
-Associated Credit Union, 5032 Old Grant Road, Ellenwood, GA on Oct. 30, 2017

There is a reward being offered for information that leads to Urena's arrest.
