🌱 Gwinnett County Meth Lab + Local Reps. Respond To Roe V. Wade

Here are the top five stories in Loganville-Grayson today:

  1. The Atlanta DEA Special Response Team (SRT) recently confiscated about 800 pounds of a meth-and-foam mix from a Mexican cartel's methamphetamine conversion lab at a house in Gwinnett County. DEA special agent Robert Murphy said the DEA is "down several hundred agents" and it's hard to find the right people to take down the cartels. (WSB Atlanta)
  2. Gwinnett County's three congressional representatives reacted to the news that the U.S. Supreme Court had overturned the Roe v. Wade decision. Democrat U.S. Rep. Hank Johnson said, "This is the most damnable Supreme Court decision in my lifetime." Democrat U.S. Rep. Carolyn Bourdeaux also objected to the decision and predicted, "women will die because of this decision." Republican U.S. Rep. Jody Hice said, "We could not be more thrilled that the protection of life is being upheld and Roe has been overturned." (Gwinnett Daily Post)
  3. Yesterday, Jun. 26, Max Clendenin, a 3-year-old girl, was found after disappearing from her father's Gwinnett yard. According to police, Ma was playing with her father at 3:20 p.m. on Saturday, Jun. 25, he stepped inside for a moment and when he came back out Max was gone. Gwinnett County police believe Magdaline Geffrard, Max's mother, may have taken her. (WSB Atlanta)
  4. Gwinnett County Public Schools announced the dates for three public hearings on the district's proposed millage rate reduction. The hearings will be on Jul. 5 at 6:00 p.m. and Jul. 13 at 11:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. at the J. Alvin Wilbanks Instructional Support Center, located at 437 Old Peachtree Road in Suwanee.   5. The Grayson Branch library is aiming to improve children's oral reading skills through the Reading Buddies program. School-aged children (between the ages of 5 and 10, or grades K-5) practice reading aloud to a teen or grown-up in a one-to-one setting. The next Reading Buddies event will take place today (Monday, Jun. 27) at 1:00 p.m. at the library. (Gwinnett County Public Library)
