Rutledge said the vehicle was reportedly in reverse and rolled from a driveway across the street and jumped the curb. The vehicle struck the back-left corner of a two-story house, damaging one interior room, ripping siding from the wall and displacing the HVAC unit.

“The driver of the runaway vehicle was also struck by the vehicle as it rolled down the driveway,” Rutlegde said in a news release. “The man was dragged by the vehicle before being freed when it jumped the curb.”

The fire department’s Technical Rescue Team (TRT-24 and GSAR-2) responded to check structural stability and shore any unstable wall supports before the scene was turned over to Gwinnett County Police.
