Gwinnett Man Killed in Head-On Collision in Milton

Police say Timothy Washburn's vehicle crossed the center line on State Route 9.

MILTON, GA -- A 53-year-old Gwinnett County man was killed in a two-vehicle, head-on collision Monday afternoon in Milton.

Milton police responded to the accident on S.R. 9 near Creek Club Drive. According to Milton police spokesman Lt. Charles Barstow, a vehicle traveling southbound near the intersection crossed the double yellow line and entered into the northbound lane of travel.

The vehicle then collided head-on with a car traveling northbound, Barstow said.

Both drivers were transported to North Fulton Hospital.

The driver of the southbound vehicle, identified as 53-year-old Gwinnett County resident Timothy Washburn, suffered "major injuries during the collision and later succumbed to those injuries," Barstow added.

The northbound driver only received minor injuries.
