Gwinnett Names 'Most Positive' Student-Athletes

More than two dozen Gwinnett County student-athletes, including two students from Grayson High and one from nearby Archer, have been named the most positive in their sports.

In all, 27 students, two coaches and Peachtree Ridge High School will be honored in the inaugural Gwinnett Positive High School Awards, Wednesday, May 6 at Peachtree Ridge.

Former University of Georgia and Pittsburgh Steelers star, Hines Ward, and local businessman Scott Pederson created Positive Athlete as a movement for more positivity in youth sports. In addition to excellence on the field, each nominated Positive Athlete was required to show characteristics such as an optimistic attitude, teammate encouragement, servant leadership, heart for others, ability to admit imperfections, giving 100 percent all the time, and realizing the team as more important than the individual.

The student-athlete winners were selected from a pool of more than 400 nominees.
