Gwinnett Police Seeking Man Accused Of Shooting Roommate

Christopher Joseph Kemp, 35, lived on Prospect Road in Lawrenceville.

LAWRENCEVILLE, GA — Gwinnett County Police are asking for help finding a Lawrenceville man accused of shooting his roommate.

Christopher Joseph Kemp, 35, is wanted on one count of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. He is considered armed and dangerous.

Police officers were called shortly after noon Sunday to a residence in the 2000 block of Prospect Road in Lawrenceville.

When officers arrived, they found Justin Lopes, 35, suffering from a gunshot wound to his abdomen. He was laying on a sofa, with his girlfriend applying pressure to his wounds as they waited for an ambulance.

He was ultimately transported to Gwinnett Medical Center in Lawrenceville, where he is listed in critical but stable condition.

A detective learned that Lopes had told his girlfriend he was going to the store, according to a police news release. A few moments later, the release said, she heard the gunshot and saw Justin come back inside the home.

The shooting happened in the home's driveway, police say. Kemp's alleged motive remains unknown, according to police.
