Gwinnett School Adds Security After Social Media Threat
Police also were doing extra patrols around Mill Creek High School on Tuesday.

HOSCHTON, GA — There was extra security on hand at a Gwinnett County high school on Tuesday, after a threat to the school made on social media.
In a letter to parents, Mill Creek High School Principal Jason Lane said school officials had been made aware of the threat on Monday.
"Administrators and police have been working through the night following leads, and I want to assure you that your student's safety is our top priority, as it is every day," Lane said in the letter.

Gwinnett County Police also confirmed they were keeping a close eye on the school, in northeast Gwinnett County near the Jackson County line.

"We are checking the area as we are able to and also working with the school resource officers," Gwinnett County Police spokesman Cpl. Deon Washington said Tuesday morning in an email.
Lane's letter did not specify the exact nature of the threat.
But WXIA was reporting it received a message from a student pointing out what appeared to be a social media post saying Mill Creek was going to be "Columbine 2.0" on Tuesday. Twelve students and one teacher were killed in the Columbine High School massacre in 1999.
