(Gwinnett County, Georgia) — Gwinnettians and Friends Elect Renita Hamilton announced today that Renita Hamilton, a local business woman, has successfully staved off a primary challenge to win the Democratic nomination for State Representative in Georgia House District 105.
Hamilton squarely defeated primary challenger Tim Hur. Hamilton took the 105th District nomination handily, winning over 60% of the vote, in a nearly landslide victory. Sources close to the Hamilton campaign credit her “ground game, and relentless pursuit of every last vote”, as the key to her success in yesterday’s primary election.

Ms. Hamilton acknowledges that as in any contested race, fences will need to be mended in order to unite the Democrats in the district and get them focused on pulling together for a win in November.
“The stakes are too high to let party divisions keep us from the prize. I’m committed to doing whatever it takes, to working with whomever it takes to make it to the State House so I can begin the work of improving the lives of the citizens in this District. That’s what all this has been about for me!”
Hamilton thanked her supporters on social media this morning. She will face the Republican opponent in the general election in November.
