Mom Charged In 'Horrendous' Loganville Stabbing
Four children and the woman's husband were dead and a fifth child was seriously injured in the stabbings, which happened early Thursday.

LOGANVILLE, GA — A Loganville woman has been charged with murder after her husband and four of her young children were found stabbed to death early Thursday morning.
Isabel Martinez, 33, is charged with five counts of murder, five counts of malice murder and six counts of aggravated assault in the stabbings — after which police say she called 911.
She is being held at Gwinnett County Jail for U.S. Immigration and Customs officials.

Gwinnett County Police were called at 4:47 a.m. by a woman at the family's home on Emory Lane in Loganville. Police say it was Martinez herself who made that call.
A fifth child was found alive, suffering from serious injuries. The girl was taken to a local hospital for treatment, police said. Her condition was unknown, but law enforcement posts said she was alive as of Thursday afternoon.

In a written statement, police said all of the children appear to be less than 10 years old and that the father was in his mid-30s. Martinez told police she's their mother and that the male victim was their father. They all lived together at the Emory Lane address.
"What prompts a person to take the life of such innocent children and her spouse is something we may never understand," police spokeswoman Cpl. Michele Pihera said in the statement. "This is a horrendous crime not only for the victims but for the extended family, neighborhood and community. We are hoping and praying that the remaining victim survives his/her injuries and makes a full recovery."

A neighbor, 15-year-old Pedro Ramirez, told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution that Martinez had been suffering with mental issues and was upset recently because her father died three weeks ago.
He told the paper that he knew some of the children through his sister, who was friends with them, and that they would ride their bikes and play in the neighborhood. He said the family had just moved to Loganville a few months ago.
After Martinez's arrest, the Gwinnett County Sheriff's Office, in a social media post, asked the public to keep the family, particularly the injured girl, and the county's law enforcement agents who dealt with the case, in its thoughts and prayers.
"Horrific crimes involving tiny victims are some of the worst images that you'll ever see and they tend to stick with you for a long time," read the post.
