a Veterinarian to save your Pet after it was attacked but not killed by a Fox or Coyote? I'd like to hear some responses from Pet owners about this. I was told about a woman recently who wound up paying $1800 for the Vet to save her German Shepherd's life after it was attacked by 4 coyotes in her backyard. Only the German Shepherd's size and ferocity probably prevented it from being killed. I just wonder if many pet owners have actually thought about it? You see, all of that cost, pain and heartache could have been prevented if the coyotes had been removed. Removal could have been done at substantially lower cost than that of the vet. The main problem is that the coyotes are still out there attacking and killing pets. The problem was not solved. The threats were not removed. All the owner did was pick up the pieces that were left. The Shepherd will never be the same, physically, emotionally or psychologically. I'm told it will also have to have physical therapy. Coyotes are more aggressive this time of year due to the fact that they are roaming and taking any animal of opportunity to feed their pups. I met with a potential Client today who showed me where coyotes tried to get into a large pen of exotic birds. Due to the owner's good judgment in building the pen, they were not able, but they ripped a tarp to shreds that the owner had covered them up with. If you have seen coyotes on your property or in your subdivision, they are there for one reason. To kill any pet that is let out of the house. Why would you wait for your pet or another to be attacked or killed before doing what needs to be done. Would you rather pay less to have the threats removed, or more to have a beloved Pet put back together? Pet owners might want to consider these things. Perhaps you are hoping the coyotes will go away and you won't have to deal with them. They won't. As long as there is an easy meal, they will be lurking just inside the wood line, watching and waiting for the right time to strike. This lady I spoke with today, lost two cats in two weeks. She had them for 3 years. One day they were there, the next day they had disappeared. We took a walk around her property and found coyote scat at numerous places near her home. When coyotes kill, they take the prey back into cover to feed. There is no middle ground with Coyotes. They are the most efficient Predators we have. They are killing machines and they must do so to survive. As I was leaving the lady's property, I passed a subdivision that had a sign at the entrance.......Lost cat please call.........my gut tells me that call will never come.
