Insurance Fraud: Georgia Couple Charged With Selling Bogus Policies

Cynthia and Ronald Dunn, who own Dunn Right Insurance Agency in Loganville, are accused of keeping at least $31,000 in premium payments.

A Gwinnett County couple is facing insurance fraud charges stemming from an investigation by the state insurance commissioner’s office.

Insurance Commissioner Ralph Hudgens said in a news release that Cynthia Dunn, 48, and Ronald Alan Dunn, 53, who own Dunn Right Insurance Agency in Loganville, kept premium payments and created fraudulent certificates of insurance for three area businesses.

Cynthia Dunn, an insurance agent, will be charged on single counts of insurance fraud, forgery and misappropriation of premiums. Ronald Dunn, who is not a licensed agent, will be charged with seven counts of insurance fraud, three counts of forgery, two counts of identity fraud and three counts of violating state licensing requirements.

“An investigation into the business practices of Dunn Right Insurance Agency has been conducted over the past several months,” Hudgens said in a statement. “Cynthia and Ronald Dunn are alleged to have defrauded at least $31,000 from their clients. This fraudulent activity exposed their victims and the public to potentially uncovered losses.”

The news release stated Cynthia Dunn’s license to sell insurance is under review. The case is being prosecuted by the Walton County District Attorney’s Office.

Insurance fraud carries a penalty of 2 to 10 years in prison and fines up to $10,000.
