- A search will be getting underway this morning, in Clayton, Georgia, to look for a Lawrenceville man who has been missing for almost a month. Joel Rosenbaum, a mentally ill man, who lives in Gwinnett County, disappeared after being released from the Habersham County Detention Center. Although his family made efforts to get him the professional help he needs, Rosenbaum had not been declared a danger to himself or others. Rosenbaum's "friends and family are offering a $10,000 reward for information leading to him." The search team and volunteers will gather at the Rabun County Courthouse at 10:30 a.m. this morning to begin the search. (Now Habersham)
- Former President Jimmy Carter, and his family have made the decision to spend the final days of his life at home, in Plains, Georgia, under the care of hospice. After several recent visits to the hospital, President Carter decided to forgo the ongoing trips, and opted for his care to be given in his own home. In the wake of the news, people around the world have begun to express words of support to the former President. The Carter Center, in Atlanta, has set up a way to send public "messages of support" for President Carter, by visiting (Carter Center Message Board) and adding your own message of peace, comfort, and support. President Carter is 98 years old, and he is "the longest-lived American President." (FOX 5 Atlanta)
- Walton County Sheriff's Office Criminal Investigations Division has confirmed that one man is in custody after a fatal shooting on Nunnally Farm Road. After the Uniformed Patrol Division responded to a call on Tuesday, Thomas Daniel Rylee, who resided at the scene, was taken into custody. No further details are being released as the investigation continues. (Monroe Local)
- Piedmont Walton Hospital is encouraging residents to make time to visit with their doctor, in celebration of American Heart Month. Almost 50 percent of Americans have at least one risk factor for heart disease, and it is still the leading cause of death for men and women in the United States. Each year, Piedmont Walton takes the time to educate patients on how to stay heart healthy. Regular exercise, quitting smoking, and a healthy diet are some ways that we can prevent heart disease. - No. 4 Grayson High School boys basketball Rams secured its 5th straight region title Friday night against No. 3 Newton on their home court. The Rams won 62-49 and led in all but 15 seconds of the Region title game. Grayson also secured the number 1 seed moving into the State playoffs. The win didn't come without a bit of drama on the court, as Newton didn't take to their celebration, which led to a scuffle between coaching staffs. The trophy was given to Head Coach Geoffery Pierce, in the tunnel, rather than the customary mid-court presentation. Grayson will host Marietta in the first round of the state playoffs, while Newton, securing the number 2 seed, will host Harrison. (Rockdale Newton Citizen)
